Sensor Readout Unit (SRU)

SRU

Tesla Subsea Inc. (TSI) presents a simplistic technology for reading sensor output data.  The Sensor Readout Unit (SRU) is capable of configured either high speed (HS) or low speed (LS) fault tolerant CANBUS signals direct from a sensor or group of sensors on the same CANBUS Channel as soon as it is connected either directly to the sensor or to the Channel terminal and turned on.

The simplicity of the device eliminates the need for complicated software or human-machine interface (HMI) setup.  If the device is powered on, it will read a signal and output it to an easy-to-read display on the front of the box.  The device also includes a ‘Reset’ button that allows the user to restart the box.  As long as the lead or connectors are wired to the device correctly and power is hooked up, the box just starts working.  It’s that easy.

Our driver for developing the Sensor Readout Unit was to provide a low cost, incredibly simple means of testing sensor output for those sensors using CANBUS as long as 120 VAC power is available.

The offering doesn’t require any special training, only requiring the user to know which pins on a sensor are used for power (24 VDC (+/-), and which pins provide the CANBUS signal (H/L).  The SRU itself has connector wires that are labeled, so it is truly plug and play.

If a specific connection is required by the customer, then a SRU with that connector can be provided with enough lead time.

Services Features and Benefits (SRU)

True Plug and Play – Read any sensor that outputs to a CANBUS Channel just by plugging it in!

A single SRU can be configured to read as many sensors as are available on a CANBUS Channel and output to an easy-to-read screen on the front of the box.

Reads either high speed (HS) or low speed (LS) fault tolerant CANBUS.

So simple that it doesn’t have a manual.  As long as it is configured for the system in advance, the unit will work.
